Frequently Asked Questions!

What are your hours of operation?
University Kids is opened from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. seven days a week. A teacher will remain with the scholar until they are picked up. Late fees will apply for late pickups. Weekend hours are subject to change due to enrollment.

Do I need an appointment to tour University Kids?
No. You are invited to campus with or without your child during our hours of operation for a tour. We do recommend calling ahead to schedule a tour, so the campus director can give you his/her undivided attention and take time to answer all of your questions.

Do you offer a Mother’s-day-out program or drop-in care?
Yes. For children 18 months and up, we do take drop-ins based on availability. Please ask the center director for further information.

Do you offer part-time care?
Yes. For children 18 months and up, we typically offer part-time care either M/W/F or T/Th, depending on availability and spaces are limited. Please ask the center director for further information.

What holidays do you close for?
University Kids is committed to the convenience of our families. We follow the Carrllton-Farmers Branch ISD district calendar. We close only for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve Day (typically, we close only for the afternoon)
Christmas Day

Does University Kids have an educational element?
Yes. All scholars enrolled in programs from the age of 6 weeks to 12 years will partake in a developmentally appropriate and research based curriculum designed to help our scholars to learn and grow cognitively, linguistically, physically and socially/emotionally.

Is University Kids accredited?
Our campus holds various official accreditations and adheres to all state standards and requirements.

What is your staff-to-child ratio?
University Kids’ teacher-child ratios comply with Texas State Minimum Standards and are usually lower, but vary by age group. For a specific classroom ratio, please contact the campus director.

How do I know my child is safe at University Kids?
We provide a secure and exceptionally clean facility with routine hygienic procedures, access to online video cameras, a security code entrance, systematic check-in and check-out process for parents and visitors, employee background and criminal history checks.

May I visit my child during the day?
Absolutely, we welcome you! Feel free to join us and participate in our daily activities.

Are all staff trained in CPR and first aid?
Yes. We require our team members to renew their CPR and first-aid training every two years.

Are meals included?
Yes. We serve a nutritious breakfast, hot lunch and three daily snacks for all scholars who can eat table food. Lunch is served family-style to help scholars learn good table manners, healthy eating habits and how to serve themselves.

Do you offer meal options for special diets – vegetarian, vegan, all-organic, kosher, etc.?
No. Unfortunately, limited kitchen space and staffing prevent us from providing multiple meal options. You are always welcome to bring your child’s lunch from home, and we will happily accommodate this however necessary.

How do you deal with food allergies?
University Kids is a peanut-free campus. You are welcome to bring dairy substitutes or other special food items for your child, and we will happily accommodate them however necessary. Please keep the allergy information update on file with the campus.

Do you provide formula and baby food?
No. Due to the wide variety of individual infant requirements and potential for early food-allergy development, we require you to bring your baby’s formula or food from home.

My baby drinks breast milk only. Can I send the milk with him/her?
Absolutely, yes! We support breastfeeding, and equip our infant rooms with refrigerators for you to store your baby’s labeled bottles. Feel free to breast feed while visiting University Kids.

Do you provide diapers?
No, you are required to bring your child’s diapers and baby wipes from home.

Do you permit cloth diapers?
Yes, bring them from home and we will return the diapers to you daily to be washed at your home.

Do the children play outside every day?
Yes, if the weather permits twice a day on their age-appropriate playground. When temperatures are above 95° or below 45° (including heat index or wind chill), the scholars enjoy other physical activity and play inside.

How does University Kids discipline children?
We believe in positive behavior support: the use of positive rewards, praise, teachable moments, and modeling the desired behavior in order to change the unwanted behavior. Our teachers will not berate, embarrass, punish, or withhold food or activities in order to discipline the scholars.

Which elementary schools do you pick up from?

My employer is a University Kids corporate partner; what benefits am I eligible for?
Corporate partner benefits vary depending upon the agreement we have with your employer. You can check your company’s intranet website for employee benefits, or you can ask your company’s benefits coordinator or the campus center director for details about your benefit eligibilities.

How much is tuition?
University Kids is devoted to providing a high-quality learning atmosphere that is comparable to surrounding childcare centers. Tuition varies by age and feel free to ask the center director for specific rates.

Do you offer a sibling or family discount?
Yes, we offer a family appreciation discount of 10% off the additional enrolled sibling at the same time with at least one scholar enrolled full-time. Only one discount of any type may apply and be used per family at any time.

Do you offer a scholarship program or sliding-scale pricing?
Yes, contact the center director for further information.

How often do you require payment – weekly, monthly, etc.?
We currently accept a weekly or bi-monthly payment by check, money order or Tuition Express [ACH] only.

Do you accept Child Care Management Services [CCMS]?
Yes, with limited spacing available. Please contact the center director for further information

How long is your wait list? What are your wait-list policies?
The length of our wait list varies by age group; please ask the center director. Our wait-list policy is first-come, first-served.

Do you have an application fee?
Yes, we require a non-refundable application fee of $50 per scholar to process your enrollment application or put you on a waiting list.

How do I enroll my child?
You can pick up an application at any University Kids or click here to download. Simply complete the application and submit it to us with your non-refundable application fee.
